California's Million Solar Roofs program has a goal of adding 3,000 Megawatts of new solar-produced electricity to the grid by 2017. In support of this goal the California Solar Initiative provides over $2 Billion of incentives for solar installations on existing residences, and on new or existing businesses.

The New Solar Homes Program offers $350 Million of incentives for solar installations on new homes. The funds for these programs are collected by the state through utility ratepayers bills. State rebates and Federal tax credits can fund over 30% of the cost of your residential solar electric system, and an even larger percentage of your commercial system.

There are even more attractive incentives available for non-profit and government organizations. The size of the rebate is based on your system's expected energy production. A 3.3 kilowatt system installed in the 95062 zip code with clear exposure and direct southern orientation can qualify for a rebate of over $6,600.

In order to make purchasing a solar system easier, Independent Energy Systems will apply for the appropriate rebate for you and discount the rebate amount from your system cost. This way you will not have to pay out the additional $6,600 at the time of purchase and then wait three months for your money to be returned to you. After the installation of your solar system we will arrange the building inspection, complete the paperwork, and submit the rebate claim. The CSI or NSHP will then pay the rebate directly to Independent Energy Systems.
